Google Ads quietly ignores late offline conversions in attribution
A newly highlighted processing rule in the Google Ads Help Center, brought to light on August 22, 2026, reveals that Google's data-driven attribution engine completely ignores offline conversions uploaded more than seven days after the event. This matters because it means your bidding algorithms are optimizing on incomplete data if you have a longer sales cycle.
What changed
- A newly highlighted processing rule in the Google Ads Help Center was revealed on August 22, 2026.
- Google's data-driven attribution engine (Search funnels) completely ignores offline conversions uploaded more than seven days after the conversion event.
- These late offline uploads still show up in your standard reporting columns perfectly fine.
- Because late uploads bypass the data-driven attribution model, a massive discrepancy is created between your standard reports and the Model Comparison tool.
Why it matters for your numbers
For ecommerce brands using offline conversion tracking (OCT) or server-side CAPI uploads with long sales cycles or delayed CRM syncs, this is a major issue. Your standard reporting columns might look perfectly healthy because they record the late uploads in full. However, because these conversions never reach Google's data-driven attribution engine, your automated bidding algorithms are optimizing on incomplete data.
This means Google's automated bidding algorithms may under-bid on high-value customers. The system thinks certain keywords or campaigns did not result in a conversion because the data was uploaded too late to be included in the attribution model. If you have a delayed sync process, you are essentially training Google's AI with broken data, which can lead to poor budget allocation and lower overall ROAS.
What I would do
- Check your CRM sync schedule to ensure all offline conversions are uploaded to Google Ads within seven days of the initial click.
- Compare your standard reporting columns against the Model Comparison tool to see if you have discrepancies caused by late uploads.
- Optimize your server-side upload pipeline to process and send conversion data as close to real-time as possible.
At TrueROAS, we track and attribute your conversions independently and in real-time, ensuring your actual server-side order data is never ignored or lost due to arbitrary platform upload windows.
